Silence and darkness in small doses are quite pleasant, but to live in total silence and darkness would be terrifying, especially if it is spiritual silence and darkness.  On Christmas, we remember that Jesus came as the Word made flesh and the light of the world so that we could hear God's voice and be led by His light.

The appearance of John and the place where he was baptizing helped to communicate some important things about John.  It can also be helpful in our lives to have reminders of what God has done for us and to what we have been called through faith in Christ.

Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.  This a main theme found in chapter 8 and 9 and is helpful for us today in deciding what to do and what not to do with our Christian liberty.  We cover that and a lot more in this study.

This world is broken and filled with broken people. How do we deal with that brokenness?  Will things ever get better?

In this message we consider the prayers of "Lord, have mercy" and "Come, Lord Jesus" as cries of faith that we can be praying as we live in this broken and sinful world.
